Figured I'd start a thread on battles around Delve. This appears to be the main theater at the moment for the war between the GBC and the Coalition.
Date: January 24/25 Systems: YZ9-F6 & 319-3D
Around 20.00 EVT Stan from DICE formed up a gang in PR-. Scouts had reported multiple hostile gangs towards W-K, near the border with Querious. Actual numbers are always hard to estimate, but between the different enemy alliance it was around 150 ships.
We set out from PR- with about 60 pilots towards 319, to see if we could pick a fight with elements of the hostiles before they could all merge. We jump into 319 at around 20.30 and a fight starts at the gate. Loading times and lag weren't too bad. TCF and UNL first engaged at range, but then started warping in closer. After the jump-in, we reformed at planet 6 to get everyone together again from the emergency-warps. We took the fight at the gate, planned to be at 100KM, but we landed in a dictor bubble, about 10 off the gate.
Boost MWDs, align for the sun, zoom zoom. BoB got hit hard in this engagement and we were forced off the gate. We regrouped at a friendly POS to assess the situation.
About half an hour goes by, reinforcements are formed up in PR- and proceed to a nearby system. At 21.20 we light a cyno and a friendly titan bridges in our reinforcements, at the same time our fleet already in 319 warps to a covert ops near the gate, about 100k off one of the two enemy groups off the gate. Divided up, the enemy fleets eventually get forced off the YZ9 gate in 319 and we regroup on the gate with our reinforcements.
About 10 minutes later, more coalition jump into 319 and together with what was left of their earlier fleet, they all land on the YZ9 gate in jump range. BoB fleet was about 0-20KM off the gate and I tell all support to start jumping into YZ9, start dropping bubbles and BS to approach the gate with MWD and get ready to jump.
At 2145, Carnage unfolds in YZ9. Dictors drop bubbles, people emergency warp all over the place. Local is at 210-250 and lag for the first minutes is harsh, really harsh. Eventually we start loading, targets get called, start taking some damage, then the nodes starts catching up. I die horribly on my battleship char and the battle rages on for another hour and fifteen minutes.
Both sides bring in reinforcements and the system keeps laggy, albeit playable. BoB pilots that lose ships get told to group up in PR-, because some enemy support are camping the route from PR-, good move on their side. We end up finally holding the field on the 319 gate after what seems an eternity. Final targets get called and our PR- reinforcements get in. After some small skirmishes around the station in YZ9 and the FWST gate we call an end to the looting, pop all remaining cans and head back to PR-. The euros need some sleep badly.
Thanks for the fight, could do without the lag, but it is to be expected when you jump 200+ people into a system together and start shooting ****! :)
I'll try to keep this thread updated with fights. Others feel free to do so as well, but try to keep away from inflammatory comments. (oh gosh, what did I just ask..) -
